Bismarck Dinko, PhD
bismarck.dinko@knust.edu.gh

Bismarck obtained his PhD from the London of School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, London in 2013. His interest in parasite biology and immunological responses to infection goes back to his undergraduate studies in Biology at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kumasi, Ghana (2006). Following his PhD, he started his career at the University of Health and Allied Sciences, Ho, Ghana where he worked for 9.5 years (2013-2022). While at UHAS and with funding from Fogarty through the VECD Consortium (2015/2016), the UK Wellcome Trust (2016-2020) and UK Royal Society, he built and led a resilient research lab and group working on the biology and immunology of Plasmodium falciparum sexual stages. Bismarck also led the building and establishment of the Biomedical Science Department and its undergraduate programme from scratch. In January 2023, he moved to the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kumasi where he is focused on an interdisciplinary malaria research programme focusing on the molecular, cellular and immunologic aspects of malaria transmission stages in different tissues of its two hosts. Bismarck is passionate about malaria eradication using transmission reducing/blocking agents, the mentoring of young scientists and fundraising for research and innovation to combat infectious diseases. He is an honorary faculty at the Department of Infection Biology, London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, London, UK.
